Moving On…

july-2012-233I’m back from vacation and there’s so much to catch up on. I haven’t yet decided how to tackle blogging about our trip to Spain, but eventually there will be pictures and stories.

Oh, there will be pictures and stories.

Before I get into all of that, I should probably mention the significant event that took place just before vacation. A week before we left, I moved out of my apartment in the Tobacco Lofts.

It’s a place I lived for three years—probably the longest I’ve lived anywhere in Madison. I really liked it there—the exposed woodwork, vaulted ceilings, cement floors, Bocce Ball court in the courtyard (which I never used even once, but it sure was a nice thing to brag about), proximity to downtown Madison, access to Lake Mendota (across the street) and my short commute to work—a 15 minute walk, and even faster by bike.

Life was good at the Tobacco Lofts. But all good things must come to an end.

And sometimes, things get even better.

Moving has had its challenges—a twelve hour moving day in 90+ degree heat, cramming 9.5 bikes into a one-bedroom apartment, and trying to pack for my first transatlantic trip while my things were in a million different boxes.

But so far it’s good. Really good.
