Food for Thought Festival

After a lap of the farmers’ market on Saturday, we attended the Food for Thought Festival, put on by REAP Food Group, just off the Capitol Square. It’s a small annual festival packed with lots of great food-related activities, demonstrations and exhibitors. We attended the “Making Healthy Local Juices and Smoothies” food camp presentation by Rebecca Pozorski. Rebecca had a nice handout that included a timely recipe for a Pumpkin and Cream Smoothie. Other “food camp” presentation topics included Urban Beekeeping, Cider and Mead Making, Making a Mini Hoop House, and Cheese Making. We also enjoyed chatting with several exhibitors and sampling food—including a fabulous Concord Grape Galette from Mermaid Cafe. It was a nice addition to our Saturday morning farmers’ market routine.
