Slow Food UW Cafe Lunch – 5/7

DSC02673The end of the semester always sneaks up way too fast. Today was the final Slow Food UW Cafe lunch of the school year. Slow Food UW partnered with Jonny Hunter from Underground Food Collective to put together a wonderful dish that incorporated all things spring—Cranberry beans, with spring onions, roasted radish, asparagus and spring greens. Served with a soft boiled egg and homemade focaccia. That was the only option on the menu today, for $7. The only unwelcome surprise was a few rock-hard beansĀ  in my dish. My friend had the same experience. “I almost broke my tooth,” she exclaimed. We shoved the undercooked beans aside and were a little more careful as we enjoyed the rest of the dish. Other than that hiccup, it was a delicious and memorable final meal. And now begins the long, painful wait until Cafe lunches resume again next fall.
