Baked Fish and Chips

I love a good Friday fish fry, but I was inspired to try a baked version after seeing this recipe on a list of 50 Most Popular Recipes of 2016 from The New York Times. Not only is baking fish and chips easier and less messy than frying, argues recipe author Melissa Clark, “it also has the distinct advantage of allowing you to cook both fish and potatoes at the same time in your oven.” The fish was great—I loved the light breading with panko crumbs, thyme and dijon—and the french fries (“chips”) were also a nice and easy addition to the meal, but it was the horseradish tartar sauce that really stole my heart. I could have eaten it by the spoonful.
